2-Who runs this tutoring service?
This tutoring service is offered by David Hunt. All tutoring sessions (one on one or groups) are conducted by David himself to make sure the students get the highest quality of the service that it is possible.

3-How this tutoring service started?
It was all started back then when I was in the high school. I was helping my friends here and there for different subject matters before the tests. After attending the university I saw how many students are in the need of help for different subject matters. The tutoring business as a professional service started at that time.

As the years passed by I offered more and more tutoring services for the university and high school students. later on after graduating from the university I decided to take this tutoring service to the next level by offering group tutorial sessions for different subject matters and standardized tests at many locations in the U.S. and Canada.

At the present time I am working on the online tutoring services and my goal is to offer my tutoring services to any student that needs help regardless of the student's geographical location.

Here is a little background:
A-I am teaching and tutoring students for the past 20 years at the high schools and the universities in Canada and the U.S. I offer tutoring help for courses such as Chemistry, Biology, Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, Physics, Math and the standardized tests such as the MCAT, the OAT, the DAT, the PCAT, the SAT (math and science sections only), the ACT (math and science sections only), the AP courses (Chemistry, Biology, Physics and Math only), the TAKS exams (math and science sections only) and etc.

B-First I started by tutoring students for a specific course at a specific university, for example first year general Chemistry course or second year Organic Chemistry course. (I still provide this service in North Texas)

C-Later on some students asked me to help them with the different standardized tests such as the SAT, the ACT, the AP courses, the TAKS, the DAT, the PCAT, the OAT and the MCAT. I started to develop and write some general notes for the different sections of these tests and I used them for one on one tutoring or for the small group tutoring sessions in Canada and later on in North Texas where I am located now. During one on one or group tutorial sessions I gave students a few pages of these notes for the each section and then we went over the notes and we did practice questions.

D-Tutorial notes for the tests such as the MCAT, the DAT, the OAT and the PCAT.
As time passed students told me that they want to study on their own or they are not in my area so they can't come to a tutorial session but they want the tutorial notes. I did put together all the pages of the tutorial notes and made them in a booklet format. This way students can study the materials and practice on the questions on their own and I also provided them with the answers. There are more information about the tutorial notes below under separate headlines.

E-The next stage is the online tutoring services. It is not ready yet but I am working on it at the present time.

4-What tutoring services are offered?
I will offer tutoring sessions and tutorial notes for the high school and university students as the following:

A-One on one tutoring sessions
They are more personalized and the pace of the session is based on a student's ability to learn and absorb the information that provided during the tutoring session. I can go slow if a student needs more time to learn the materials or if it is needed I can increase the pace. The tutoring session is based on the questions that the student wants to ask about a subject matter from a text book, class notes, practice questions and the old exams. I will only go over the stuff that a students needs help with. This way the students could save a lot of time and money (please see the headline number 5 below for the more details).

B-Small group tutoring sessions (2-4 students)
They will benefit students who they may have similar difficulties in a course or a subject matter and they want to spend less money per hour of the tutoring. Please note that the pace of a small group tutoring session is always based on the weakest link in the group and you should consider that when you set up your own group for a tutoring session. The student that needs more time to absorb the information will slow down the pace for all in a group tutoring session and the other students in the group may not be happy about it (please see the headline number 5 below for the more details).

C-Structured Tutoring Sessions
They are for any high school or any university level subject matters such as Chemistry, Biology, Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, Physics, Math and the tests such as the MCAT, the OAT, the DAT, the PCAT, the SAT (math and science sections only), the ACT (math and science sections only), the AP courses (Chemistry, Biology, Physics and Math only), the TAKS exams (math and science sections only) and etc.

They are also offered for the mid-term and the final exams for the high school and university courses.

They are based on the materials that the students need to know for a specific test or a subject matter regardless of a students background or knowledge about that course or topic (for example first year general chemistry at the UNT). Please see the # 5 (D) below for more details.

E-Online Tutoring
This service is not ready yet and it will be phased in gradually in several steps. For the updates please click here.

5-How the tutoring sessions are conducted?
It depends on how a student wants to use the tutoring services. (options A, B, C, D, E and F below)

A-One on one or small group tutorial sessions for the subject matters such as General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, Physics, Math and etc.

This service is only available in North Texas (Collin County, Dallas County, Denton County and Tarrant county).

This service is most useful to the students who they have specific problems with a topic or a subject matter (for example they don't understand a topic in Chemistry or Organic Chemistry or they need help with some calculation questions in Chemistry or Physics).

This service is based on you pay as you use. That means there is no long term obligation to the students for using these tutoring service. The students could schedule a tutoring session when they need help by contacting David to set up a time and location to meet.

The tutoring sessions could be scheduled in the intervals of 1-2 hours each and the fees would be paid after each tutoring session. If a student needs more help then more sessions could be scheduled for the later dates. If a student doesn't need any more tutoring help then the tutoring sessions can be stopped at anytime.

B-One on one or small group tutorial sessions for the tests such as the MCAT, the OAT, the DAT, the PCAT, the SAT (math and science sections only), the ACT (math and science sections only), the AP courses (Chemistry, Biology, Physics and Math only), the TAKS exams (math and science sections only) and etc.

This service is only available in North Texas (Collin County, Dallas County, Denton County and Tarrant county).

This service is most useful to the students who they want to study on their own for the above tests. Some students might have specific problems with only a section of the above tests and they don't want to attend a class for all the sections. (For example they don't understand a part of the Chemistry or the Organic Chemistry sections or they need help with some calculation questions in Chemistry or Physics).

This service is based on you pay as you use. That means there is no long term obligation to the students for using this tutoring service.

Please click on the above links to go to the relevant web pages for the each test. You will find all the details about the test and what services are offered for that test.

C-Group tutorial sessions (more than 20 students)
These tutorial sessions are for the tests such as the MCAT, the DAT, the OAT, the PCAT and could be scheduled anywhere in the U.S. and Canada.

These tutorial sessions are based on a structured tutoring session format (please see D below). This means a tutoring session divided into a few days and each day divided into a few hours. For example the PCAT test tutoring session could run 3-4 days and 5-7 hours per day.

The fees (full amount) will be collected on the first day of the tutorial session at the start of the session. There is no full or partial refunds if a student fails to show up for any session or decided not to attend all the sessions.

Please make sure you need this option or you can benefit from this option before you pay the fees. During the tutorial sessions I will offer the standard information that the students need to know for the above tests and they are based on the examinee guide for the each test.

The information and materials offered during these tutoring sessions are for all students regardless of their backgrounds or specific needs. (Please check the relevant web pages for the each test to see the details). If a student only needs help with a section of a test may be the option B above is the better choice.

D-Structured Tutoring Sessions
This service is for the students who they want to study and learn a subject matter in details and as a whole.

The tutoring sessions are offered as general sessions regardless of a student's background. (for example if they have taken the course in the past, they are currently taking that subject matter at a high school or a university or planning to take it later on).

The sessions could be offered one on one or in a group format. I have developed notes, lectures, lessons, practice tests and mock exams for different subject matters such as the General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, Physics, Math and etc.

I have divided a course or a subject matter into a fixed number of tutoring sessions depend on the subject matter (for example 50 hours-100 hours of total tutoring sessions over a few weeks or a few months depends on the need of a student and on the subject matter).

The fees are fixed for the entire period of tutoring sessions. They depend on the subject matter and must be paid in a single payment at the start of the first tutoring session.

There is no full or partial refunds if a student fails to show up for any session or decided not to attend all the sessions (please see headline number 9 below for the details about the refunds). If a student only needs help with a section of a test or a part of a subject matter may be the option B above is the better choice.

Here are a few scenarios about how the students could benefit from the Structured Tutoring Sessions:

i-Mary wants to take a first year chemistry course in the fall at a college or at a university but she has never taken any chemistry course during her high school years. She wants to get an over view of the important topics in chemistry during the summer months before her regular chemistry course starts in the fall.
The Structured Tutoring Sessions for a general chemistry course at the first year university level could help her to achieve her goal.
After she completes the Structured Tutoring Sessions during the summer months she can starts her regular course in the fall with confidence and by knowing that she will have a solid background in different topics in chemistry.

ii-Tom
is starting the grade 12 high school this fall and he is planning to attend the college or university next year. He wants to study for the ACT or SAT or take the TAKS exit exams.
He has taken different math courses since the grade 9th but he likes to refresh his memory. He also likes to have an overall understanding of the math topics that he needs to do well on his current math courses and on the ACT, SAT or TAKS tests.
The Structured Tutoring Sessions for the high school level math (Algebra or pre-calculus) could help him to get high scores on any of the above tests and increase his chance to be accepted to the college of his choice.
He can use the Structured Tutoring Sessions during the summer months before he starts grade 12th high school or he can use the session concurrently with his other courses during the regular school year.

iii-Sara wants to take the OAT test to apply to an Optometry School.
She has taken organic chemistry a couple of years ago but she likes to refresh her memory about the different topics in organic chemistry.
The Structured Tutoring Sessions for the organic chemistry can help her to achieve her goal to do well on the organic chemistry section of the OAT test.

iiii-Tony has been out of the high school for a few years and he is working to save enough money to attend a college or a university.
He needs to take the College Algebra during the first year of the university but he needs to refresh his memory about the important math topics from his high school years.
The Structured Tutoring Sessions for the Algebra can help him to achieve his goal during the summer months before he starts his college algebra course in the fall.

E-There are tutorial notes for the tests such as the MCAT, the DAT, the OAT, the PCAT. Please go to the relevant web pages for the each test to see the details.

F
-I provide review sessions before the mid term and the final exams at various universities in the U.S. and Canada. Please click here to see the details.

6-How a student can schedule a tutoring session?
Please contact David by the e-mail or the phone to set up a one on one or a small group tutorial session in the City of Denton or outside of the City of Denton (Collin County, Dallas County, Denton County and Tarrant county).

Please note the following:
A-You always need to have your text book, your class notes, your calculator, pen, paper, old exams, practice questions and etc. with you in case we need them during your tutoring session.

B-The time and location of a tutoring session must be confirmed by the phone calls only. You can send me an e-mail to ask questions about the time and location but I need to speak with you on the phone before I can confirm any tutoring session.

C-The fees for one on one or small group tutoring session must be paid at the end of each session.

D-I am only available for the confirmed tutoring sessions. I have many daily teaching, research and tutoring responsibilities and I have only a few hours a week for personal tutoring sessions. Once a while I conduct tutoring sessions outside the North Texas so I am not available for tutoring sessions on those dates.

E-The tutoring sessions will be booked on a first come first served bases and only if I have free time for that time slot.
If you need help please call me a few days in advance of the day that you want to schedule a tutoring session. This assure you that you can get the day and the time that you are interested in.
It is is unlikely that I can give you a tutoring session the night before your tests or exams.
I am usually very busy around the mid-term and the final exams periods for the college and university courses so make sure you consider this when you want to book your tutoring sessions.

F-I usually book a few students back to back for tutoring sessions and I will always show up on time for a tutoring session (If I can not make it to a tutoring session I will call you in advance at the number that you gave me when you booked your session).
I will wait only a few minutes for a student but if a student doesn't show up for a tutoring session the time slot will go to the next student on the list.

G-If you know that you are going to miss a confirmed tutoring session or you can not make it please call me and let me know in advance of the tutoring session.
There are always other students who need my help and I can give your time slot to them.

H-If a student cancel a tutoring session twice or doesn't show up for a tutoring session then I assume she/he doesn't need my help.
I will not book any more tutoring sessions for that student and she/he needs to find another tutor.

7-What are the fees and the payment options for these tutoring services?
Please click here to see the fees and payment options.

8-Do you guaranty your tutoring services?
I provide information for different subject matters during the tutorial sessions based on the need of the students (one on one or group tutorial sessions).

i-I can guaranty that the information you will get for a subject matter is accurate and it can help you to do well on the relevant homework, the relevant tests and the relevant exams.
I will give you the information that you need but how do you use it? or what do you do with that information? it is up to you.

ii-I can not guaranty that by using these tutorial services you will do well on your tests and exams.
I don't take the tests for you and I don't write the exams for you so I don't have any control over the outcome of a test or an exam.

Please read the following:
A-I am a private tutor and I don't know the exact questions that they will be asked on an actual test (I am not the teacher or the professor who makes the questions).
I do put together these tutorial notes and the tutorial sessions based on what it is outlined in an examinee guide or a course outline for that test.

B-I don't take the test for a student so I have no control over the outcome of the test and how a student is going to perform on a test.

C-I provide a service during the tutorial sessions and through the tutorial notes and that is the exchange of the information.

D-I provide the students with the standard information and the facts about a subject matter and I will stand by the accuracy and the relevance of that subject matter to a test or to an exam. (you can always check the information that provided to you during the tutorial sessions with your text books and your class notes).

E-I will provide the information based on the materials from the text books and the class notes that they are being used by the instructors and the professors to teach students for regular courses at the high schools, colleges and the universities.

F-I am not responsible for the differences between the information that I provide to you through the tutorial sessions or the tutorial notes and the other tutorial notes or study guides in the market.
If the other tutorial notes and materials are from a text book that is being used by a university or high school for a regular course please let me know by the e-mail or by the phone and we can go from there.

G-I will give the students all the information that they need to get a good score on a test but how they use that information is up to them.

H-There is no way I or any body else could know for sure that a student did or didn't get a good score on a test because of a tutoring service or some tutorial notes as there are many factors could be involved.

I-We all know that any professor, instructor, teacher or tutor (like any other human being) could make unintentional mistakes during teaching, lecturing or tutoring and the key word is unintentional.
The mistakes could be any typo, spelling, missing words or letters or copying problems with tutorial notes and lectures.
If you notice any such mistakes on my part please bring it to my attention in person, by the e-mail or by the phone and the problem can be corrected ASAP.

9-Can students get their money back if they are not happy with the results of these tutoring services?
There are no refunds or returns for any of my tutoring services or any of my tutorial notes (there are some exceptions that I have outlined below).

I am listing the following points because I am teaching and tutoring students at many levels (high school and university) for the past 20 years.
I have seen it all, I have heard it all and I have done it all. I have created some rules that they will prevent a student to experience a bad tutoring session or they prevent a student to receive a product that it is not useful to that student.

i-The one on on or small group tutoring sessions will stop at the start or it will not happen at all if a student is not happy with the conditions set for the tutoring services. If there is no tutoring session, there are no fees to pay so there are no worries about the refunds.

ii-With regard to the tutorial notes, the students should look at the tutorial notes in person and compare them with the other books or study guides in the market before they buy them.
By looking at the tutorial notes in person you can make a better decision to buy them or not because you buy what you see.

Also please read the following information very carefully before you use my tutorial services or buy any tutorial notes.
A-One on One tutoring sessions
These sessions usually run in the intervals of 1-2 hours each and student pays per session per hour and there is no long term financial obligations to a student.

Please note that the following are only apply to a One on One tutoring sessions not to the other types of tutoring sessions.

Please see headlines numbers 4 and 5 above for the different types of tutoring sessions.

a-After looking at the student's course materials if I can not help a student with a subject matter I will not start the tutoring session and there is no charge. (I don't like to waste a student's time and money so the student could get help from another tutor).

b-After starting a tutoring session if the students find a tutoring session is not helping them in the first 5-10 minutes then they should stop me right away and letting me know.
I will stop the tutoring session and there is no charge.
If a student doesn't stop me and I finish the tutoring session then the fee will be charged based on the time spend with the student.

The full fees for this type of tutoring will be collected on the first day of the tutoring session.

i-I will conduct the Structured Tutoring Sessions for the high school or university courses based on the course outlines provided to me by the students.
This way a student will know what exactly they need to know and what they will get for their money.
There are no partial or full refunds for any reason after the Structured Tutoring Sessions starts.

ii-I will conduct the tutoring sessions for the above standardized tests (the MCAT, the OAT, the DAT, the PCAT, the SAT , the ACT, the AP courses and the TAKS exams) based on the examinee guide for the each test.
All students can get the examinee guide from the relevant official web site for that test and this way the students will know what exactly they need to know and what they will get for their money.
There are no partial or full refunds for any reason after the Structured Tutoring Sessions starts.

B-Group Tutorial Sessions
I use Structured Tutoring Sessions (see D of #5 above) to run group tutorial sessions based on a course outline for a subject matter or an examinee guide for a standardized test.

a-I will offer group tutorial sessions before the mid-term and the final exams.
The sessions usually run for 6-8 hours in one day and I will cover the materials based on the course outline for that specific course and what the students need to know for that specific exam.
All students have the course outline and they should know what I will be covering during the group tutorial sessions. They should ask any question that they might have about the group tutorial sessions before they attend a tutorial session.
The fees for the group tutorial sessions will be collected on the day of the session at the door before the session starts.
After the session starts and after I went over 2-3 questions I will give students the option to leave if they think that the session is not useful to them. They will get the full refund.
There are no partial or full refunds for any reason after the initial 2-3 questions.

b-For the tests such as the tests such as the MCAT, the OAT, the DAT, the PCAT, the SAT (math and science sections only), the ACT (math and science sections only), the AP courses (Chemistry, Biology, Physics and Math only), the TAKS exams (math and science sections only) and etc.
I provide one on one and group tutorial sessions.

i-For one on one tutorial sessions please see A above.

a-All the above tests have specifics examinee guides that they have been published by the organizations conducting the above tests.
b-All students have access to these course outlines through official web sites for the above tests and I have also provided these course outlines on the relevant pages on this web site.
c-All students should take a look at these course outlines before they attend a group tutorial session so they will know what materials will be covered in these tutorial sessions.
d-These tutorial sessions run for a few days and the fees will be collected on the first day of the session at the door before the session starts.
There are no partial or full refunds for any reason after the tutorial session starts
.

C-Tutorial notes for the tests such as the MCAT, the OAT, the DAT, the PCAT and etc.
I will give the students the option to look at the tutorial notes before they buy them. They can look at the tutorial notes in details and they can compare them to other study guides or books in the market and then they can make a decision to buy them or not. This way if they find that my tutorial notes is not right for them then they have the option to shop around.

Please take your time and look at my tutorial notes before you buy them so you don't have to worry about the returns and the refunds.
There are no refunds or returns for the tutorial notes when a student buy them.

10-How can students get a good score on the standardized tests such as the MCAT, the OAT, the DAT, the PCAT, the SAT, the ACT, the AP courses, the TAKS exams and etc.?
I have read and heard many phrases such as "looking for a way to unlock the test", "looking for the secret codes about the test", "how to get into the test codes" and etc.
I have taken, written and conducted countless standardized and multiple-choices tests in my life time. I am teaching, tutoring and working with students for many years and I have seen it all, I have heard it all and I have done it all. There are no short cuts or no easy ways to get good scores on any test without the following:

I-The knowledge of the subject matter that you are being tested on.
II-Time management

The knowledge of the subject matter and the time management are related together and you can not ignore either of them. It is a very simple concept and I will explain it here:
A-You can have all the time in the world to take a test, if you don't know the subject matter you can not answer the questions.
You can try this to see for yourself:
i-Open a Chemistry, a Physics, a Math or a Biology text book
ii-Choose any chapter and go to the questions at the end of that chapter
iii-Try to answer a question
iv-If you know the materials for that chapter then you can answer the question, if you don't know the materials you can not answer the question, it is very simple.

B-You can have all the knowledge in the world about a subject but if you are running out of the time during a test you can not get to see and to read all the questions.
You can not answer a question if you don't have time to read it even if you know the answer for it.

Here are some steps that you can take to improve your time management:
a-At the start of each section of the test, do not spend more than 1-2 minutes per question. If the answer doesn't pop into your head, go to the next question.

b-The questions are not in a particular order. You might find some easier questions for you to answer in the middle or at the end of the test rather than at the start of the test.

c-Try to read all the questions at least once by the half way through the allowed time for that test or that section.

d-Try to answer theoretical questions in each section of the test first, you need less time to do them than to work on the calculation questions.

e-If there are no penalty for the wrong answers then try to answer all questions.
If you don't remember the correct answer or you are not sure about the correct answer, make an educated guess by elimination process.
If the answer is blank you have no chance of getting any point for that question.
By guessing the answer you still have a %20 chance (if there are 5 choices for the answer) or %25 chance (if there are 4 choices for the answer) of getting a correct answer.

Of course all the above are my own personal opinions and views on this matter and you don't need to accept them or to follow them.

11-How does a student know if he/she needs help with a subject matter such as Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, Physics and Math or the standardized tests such as the MCAT, the OAT, the DAT, the PCAT, the SAT, the ACT, the AP courses, the TAKS exams and etc.?
This is very simple. You need to test your knowledge about a subject matter by working on some practice tests or practice questions before you look for any help from a teacher, a tutor or a study guide.

You can not measure the depth of your learning about a subject matter without testing your knowledge about that subject matter.
You can read, learn and memorize all the information in your text book or your class notes. If you don't do any practice questions on those materials you will never know that if you can use the information to answer the questions on an actual test or exam.

Here are some tips for how to do it:
A-For regular high school or university courses such as Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, Physics and Math
You can use your text book (the book that assigned to you by your teacher or your professor not the other books) or the old exams (from the same course).
Try to answer some of the end of the chapter's questions from your text book or answer questions from the old exams for that particular course.
The result will tell you that if you need help or not.

B- For the tests such as the MCAT, the OAT, the DAT, the PCAT, the SAT, the ACT, the AP courses, the TAKS exams and etc.?
a-Please go to the official web sites for the above tests and look for the official practice tests.

b-These tests can help students to measure their knowledge before they start to study or before they seek help for a particular test.

c-Please take the official practice test and the result will tell you where you stand before you start to look for help.

d-These tests are the only official practice tests that they have been released by the organizations conducting the actual tests.

e-All other tests, materials, study guides, books and tutorial services in the market are made by the private individuals or by the private companies and they resemble the actual tests but they are not official.

f-These private individuals and companies are not related to the actual organizations conducting the actual tests.

C-For the tests such as the MCAT, the OAT, the DAT, the PCAT
You should have an idea where is the problem after you take one of the official practice tests.

You have already spent a few years at a university or a college and you have taken some Science, Math and English courses. You will know that if you need help to study for a particular test or not after you see the result of an official practice test.

If you think that you need help then you have to sit down and decide how to study for a test.

You should know that every year thousands of the students are accepted to the Dental schools, Medical schools, Optometry schools, Pharmacy schools and the other professional schools in the U.S. and Canada. They all don't use a tutorial service or a private tutor to study for the above tests. Many students study on their own and use their knowledge of their undergraduate courses to take the above tests and many will get a good score on their first try.

Please note that using a tutorial service or a study guide to study for the above tests will not give you a guaranty high score regardless of the promises that they usually come with such services or study guides.
You should also know that if you need help with any of the above tests you can get the help through different sources.

12-Which method should students use to study for the standardized tests such as the MCAT, the OAT, the DAT, the PCAT, the SAT, the ACT, the AP courses, the TAKS exams and etc.?

A-
For the tests such as the SAT, the ACT, the TAKS exams and etc.
You need to use your high school knowledge from the grades 9-12.
a-The best tools are the text books that you have used when you were taking your courses (Math, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English and etc.) at the high school level.
b-You can also go to the official web sites for the above tests and try to work on some practice questions.
c-You can use a tutoring service if you think that you need extra help.
d-You can buy a study guide and study on your own.

B-For the tests such as the MCAT, the OAT, the DAT, the PCAT and the AP courses
There are a few methods that you can use:

i-Use your undergraduate (university and college level) text books.

ii-Use a study guide and study on your own.

iii-Use a tutoring service and attend a class in person or online.

iv-Use a combination of the above

a-The method to choose to study for the above tests depends on each individual student.
As we all know no 2 persons are alike when it comes to learning process. Every person has different ways of studying, learning and processing the information.
Some people are slow learners and some are fast learners. Some can recall large amounts of information in a short period of time and some can not. Some are fast readers and some are not.
There is no one magic formula for all.

b-The tests such as the MCAT, the OAT, the DAT, the PCAT, the SAT, the ACT and the AP courses, the TAKS exams and etc. are time sensitive.
You need to read the questions, process the information and then answer the questions in a specific limited time and that is the most challenging part of the standardized tests.
The good news is that every person can learn a subject if they study for it and invest time and effort to learn it by doing it the right way.

c-It doesn't matter which method you choose to study for the above tests, the important thing is that you can not get a good score on these tests without investing enough time and effort to find your strengths and your weaknesses.

d-Also you have to spend some time to research and compare different products in the market to find out which one can help you the most. Please spend some time to research what you need, it will save you a lot of time and money at the end.

I like to explain this in details so be patient and read this part with care, it can save you a lot of money and time.
i-I have seen so many claims on the internet and in some bookstores about how they can teach you the fastest way or the easiest way to study for the tests such as the MCAT, the OAT, the DAT, the PCAT, the SAT, the ACT and the AP courses, the TAKS exams and etc.
I also have heard many stories from students about how they have been scammed by spending money and time on the materials which they were not relevant to any of the above tests or they didn't cover what the students needed for the above tests.

ii-I know from my own first hand experiences dealing with many students (many years of teaching and tutoring high school and university level courses) that everybody is looking for the magic formula.
For a way to learn the stuff fast and then recall them when they need them without doing a lot of work.
Unfortunately this is an impossible task for most science and math subjects including the above standardized tests.

These tests measure your knowledge of the specific materials in Science, Math and English. If you have never studying these subjects in the past you will never be able to answer the questions on these tests.
Of course all students (who are taking these tests) already have taken high school level and university level courses in Science, Math and English as part of their education programs and they have the basic background for the different sections of the above tests.

iii-The text books that students use in the first 2 years of the university or the college (for Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Physics and Biology courses) are good tools for studying for the Science sections of the tests such as the MCAT, the OAT, the DAT, the PCAT and the AP courses.
These books have all the information that you need but keep that in mind that these books are not developed just for the above tests.
You must follow the outline in the relevant Examinee Guides for the each test
.

iv-
The text books that students use in the high school or the first year university (courses for the math and algebra) should be enough to cover most of the Math sections for the tests such as the OAT, the DAT, the PCAT and the AP courses.
There are some stuff that you need to study on your own and they are not in any specific math text book.
These math stuff are not from any specific grade levels in the high school or the university. They are general knowledge about the math that you learn them over many years by studying different subjects in the high school and the college or the university.

v-The high school and university courses in English are your best tools for the English sections of the tests such as the MCAT, the OAT, the DAT, the PCAT and the AP courses.
This part of the above test requires speed reading comprehension, a strong vocabulary, good grammar skills , knowledge of the major rules of writing (introduction, body, conclusion) and also you need to be a good speller.

Please note that you will learn the skills of how to read or how to write over many years especially if the English is not your first language. This only can be achieved with practice and a lot of it.

vi-You can use your high school text books (Chemistry, Math, Physics, English and Biology) from grades 9-12 if you are studying for the tests such as the SAT, the ACT, the TAKS exams and etc.
Make sure you are following the relevant Examinee Guides for the each test.

vii-You have the option to choose a study guide, a book or a tutoring service to study for the above tests.
Please shop around and compare different products and services in the market before you buy any book, any study guide or use any tutoring service.

13-How these tutorial notes for the DAT test, the MCAT test, the OAT test and the PCAT test are developed?
This tutorial notes and practice questions put together over many years and they have been updated when it was needed.

A-Some notes and practice questions in the tutorial booklets are from the time I was studying myself for university courses such as Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, Cell Biology, Genetics, Anatomy and Physiology, Algebra, Calculus, Statistics, Physics and etc.

B-Some materials are my own notes from teaching or tutoring (one on one, a class or a group) students in different subjects such as Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Math and etc.

C-Some materials in the tutorial booklets are from the instructors who they were teaching in-class group tutorial sessions in the past.

D-Some materials in the tutorial booklets are from the questions and the notes that students brought to me over the years for one on one or group tutorial sessions and I know that they can be useful for the other students as well.

E-Some materials in the tutorial booklets are the questions that students e-mailed to me over the years during the online tutorial sessions and I think that they are useful to the other students as well.

It is important to know that all the above materials have been modified to follow the guidelines in the Examinee Guides for the above tests.

As I mentioned before regardless of where your study materials for the above tests come from they must follow the guidelines for the above tests (to be useful and to help you to answer the questions on the actual tests).

The best way to choose a good study guide for the above tests is to shop around and to compare different products in the market together and to see for yourself which one is better for you.

14-
What are the differences between these tutorial notes for the DAT test, the MCAT test, the OAT test or the PCAT test and the others in the market?
This should be a major question for all the students when they want to use any study notes for a test or they want to use any tutoring services.

A-My answer is that I don't claim my notes or my tutoring services are better than anybody else in the market.
I am telling students that my tutorial notes provide you with the information that you need to know and that information is based on the Examinee Guides for the above tests.

B-That information is available to everybody so anybody can look at it and find out what they need to get a good score on any of the above tests.

C-All the materials and notes that you need for different sections of the above tests are available to you through different sources that I have mentioned before.

D-All I have done is that I have put together all the information that you need (for a good score) in one tutorial booklet so you don't need to go through 4 or 5 different sources or different books to find them.

E-Any study guide or any tutoring service in the market must follows the Examinee Guides for the above tests to be useful to the students.

F-You need to do some research and to compare the tutoring services and the tutorial notes in the market (for the above tests) together to find out which one is the best for you.

G-Also you need to remember that you are the person who is taking the actual test not another person. I can give you all the information that you need for a test but what you do with that information and how you are using that information (to do well on a test) is all up to you.

15-Can students take a look at these tutorial notes for the DAT test, the MCAT test, the OAT test or the PCAT test before they buy them?
Yes and I always tell students this is the best way to find a good study guide for the above tests.

A-Do your research and spend some time to compare different products in the market.

B-Go to the different bookstores.

C-Check different web sites to see for yourself what is out there for you.

D-Please check the relevant pages on this site to see how you can look at the tutorial notes in person.

16-How can students look at these tutorial notes for the DAT test, the MCAT test, the OAT test or the PCAT test before they buy them?
A-I visit different colleges and universities in North Texas often for conducting tutoring sessions.
If you are located in North Texas (Collin County, Dallas County, Denton County and Tarrant county or any area close to them) please contact David by the phone or by the e-mail.
We can set up a time and a location at one of the colleges, universities or any other place in the area to meet and you can look at the tutorial booklets for the above tests in person.

B-If you are not located in North Texas but you have a relative or a friend in the area then you can ask them to look at the tutorial booklets for you.
Please make sure you tell them exactly what you want in a tutorial booklet and you can trust their judgments to make a decision regarding buying a tutorial booklet for you.

C-I do travel to different cities and locations in the U.S. and Canada to conduct tutorial sessions for different courses a few times a year. If you are not located in North Texas and you like to look at the tutorial booklet for the above tests in person please let me know in advance by the phone or by the e-mail.
If I know a head of time that you are interested to look at the tutorial booklets, then I can make arrangements to set up a time and location to meet with you when I am in your area.

D-If you are not located in the U.S. or Canada or you are in the military service overseas please send me an e-mail and we can go from there.

17-Why should students look at my tutorial notes for the DAT test, the MCAT test, the OAT test or the PCAT test in person before they buy them?
Here are the reasons:
A-You can take your time and look at it in details and even go through it page by page if you like to.

B-You can compare another study guide (that you have or you bought in the past) to my tutorial booklet side by side so you don't end up buying similar materials twice.

C-You can ask any question that you might have about the tutorial booklets or anything else about the above tests in person and get an answer face to face.

D-No surprises, you will buy what you will see in front of you. It is not like you order something over the internet or by the phone and when you get the package and you open it you will get completely a different product than what you expected.

E-The fees for my products and my services are non-refundable and there are no returns. By looking at the tutorial booklets in person you don't need to be worry about the returns and refunds. If you don't like the booklet (after you look at it in person) you don't pay for it so there is no worries about the returns and the refunds.

F-I have developed these tutorial notes for my own tutorial sessions (one or one or group tutorial sessions in North Texas or the other locations in the US and Canada) and they are not available in any bookstore.

G-I am working on the online tutorial services for the different tests. When this service is up and running you can look at the entire tutorial booklets online. You can take a look at them online now (I have posted some photos to give you an idea what they look like) but I prefer for the students to look at my tutorial booklets in person.

18-Could students buy only a part of my tutorial notes for the DAT test, the MCAT test, the OAT test or the PCAT test for a cheaper price?

A-Yes. The cost depends on the section of the test and the number of the pages (of the notes for that section of the test) that you are interested in.
Please contact David by the e-mail or by the phone for the details.

B-If you are interested to buy only a part of the tutorial notes, I recommend to buy only the parts such as Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Biology, Physics and Math.

It is waste of your money if you are only interested in English sections (Verbal Ability, Verbal Reasoning, Writing Samples and Reading Comprehension).
You can get the English materials through a lot of sources for free (public libraries, university libraries, the official web sites for the above tests or on the internet).

C-I am working on the online tutoring service and when this service is up and running then you can access the entire tutorial notes online and you can use only the parts that you need.

19-Do students need to buy any other materials if they buy my tutorial notes for the DAT test, the MCAT test, the OAT test or the PCAT test?
A-
It will be a student's decision. I have put together the tutorial notes for each section of the above tests starting from scratch (from very simple topics to the advance topics) based on the outline in the Examinee Guides.

I have assumed the students who they are taking the above tests have no background in any of the subjects that they will be tested on these tests. This way I can be sure I have covered everything that it is needed. (I know that all students have spent 3 or 4 years in the university or the college but I didn't want to leave anything out).

B-Please note that I am a private tutor and I don't know the exact questions that they will be on the actual tests and no one else know either (beside the people who they make the actual test).

I have tried to use notes and practice questions in my tutorial notes for the above tests to resemble as close as possible to the materials and the questions that could show up on the actual tests (please take a look at the official practice tests on the relevant web sites to get an idea about the type of the questions you might expect to see on the actual tests).

C-If you have any other materials to study for the above tests or you want to buy other materials on top of my tutorial notes that is up to you. As long as the materials are relevant to the actual tests they can be used if you have extra time and the money to spend.

D-Make sure you do not fall for this common phrase "we know what is on this test or that test" or "our people have inside information".

E-The people who make the actual tests or run the actual tests such as the DAT, the MCAT, the PCAT and the OAT are not involved with any private tutoring service or any private tutorial notes.
It is a conflict of interest and it is also illegal. Please be careful about this kind of advertising when you see one or you hear about one. They are not true.

20-General advice about the interview process for some health professional schools such as the Medical Schools, the Dental Schools, the Optometry Schools, the Pharmacy Schools and etc.
Please note that the following information provided here are based on my own personal views and experiences on this topic and they are not related to any specific school or college. If you have any more questions about the interview process or you like to arrange a mock interview for yourself please contact David by the e-mail or by the phone.

The interview process is a part of the admission requirements to many professional schools such as the Medical schools, the Dental schools, the Optometry schools, the Pharmacy schools and etc.
The interview usually conducted in person but some schools conduct interviews over the phone.
You need to check with the school of your choice to find out the details about the interview process.

There are some steps that you should consider before the interview and during the interview.
A-The interview is usually the last step of the admission process for a college or a school. The student will not get an offer of interview if that student does not satisfy the other admission requirements such as good scores on the standardized tests (the MCAT, the DAT, the OAT, the PCAT, etc.), minimum GPA, the specific undergraduate courses, undergraduate course loads, letters of recommendation and etc.

B-An offer for an interview is not an offer for admission to a school or a college.
Many schools and colleges have limited seats for a professional program and they will not interview all applicants for that program.
They will only offer interviews to selected applicants but the number of the selected applicants for the interview will always be more than the available seats for a program (2 or 3 times more).
For example if there are 80 seats for a Pharmacy class they might interview up to 200 applicants (depends on the number of the applicants).

C-These days the interview always involves writing an essay and you need to write it either before you go to the interview or during the interview process.
You should check with the school of your choice to find out about the details.

D-The essay part could be about your own autobiography or about a topic that it will be provided to you before the interview or during the interview.

E-Make sure you write your own essay or autobiography and do not exaggerate or overstate anything that you can not back up if there was a question about it. Try to be yourself!!!

F-If you need to write the essay before you go to the interview, make sure you remember what you have wrote about.
There are always questions that they can ask from you during the interview about your essay. It will not look good on your part if you don't remember what you have wrote or about what.

G-If you are interested in a health related profession please get to know the profession before you go for the interview.
You can get a pay or a volunteer job at a hospital, a Pharmacy, an Optometry office, a Medical or Dental clinic.
You can also shadow a Doctor, a Dentist, an Optometrist or a Pharmacist as they work and you can learn a lot about the profession. This is the best way to see what they do or how they handle patients or daily tasks.
These kinds of jobs are not all about seeing a patient but they are involved a lot of administrative and paper work as well.

H-I have been on the both sides of the table when it comes to the interview process. The interviewers don't like to hear phrases such as "I don't know", "I am not sure", "I have not think about it before", "I have no opinion" and etc.

I-Please note that no 2 interviews will be look alike.
You can not plan your interview based on someone else interview or the type of the questions that they have been asked from the other people in the past.
There are some typical and common questions that they could be asked from any applicant such as:

i-How did you become interested in this profession?

ii-When did you become interested in this profession?

iii-Why did you become interested in this profession?

iv-What have you done with your life so far?

v-Be able to explain any gaps in your educational life or work life? any drop out from the school?

vi-Explain any pay or volunteer work or lack of it?

vii-Explain your college work load or any D or F grades?

viii-Explain any practical experiences with the profession?

21-Memorization versus Understanding?
Please note that the following explanations are my own point of view on this matter and I have no claims here that they are scientific or accurate and you are not obligated to accept or to follow them.

I am using such words as the Learning, understanding, recalling from memory, memorizations and etc. in this page and many other pages of this web site.

I think that I need to explain a general concept here before I can give you an advice on how to study for a course, a subject or a test.

I believe the memorization and understanding are both integral part of a learning process and you can not use one without the other to study for a subject.
They both needed when we want to explain our answer to a question but they have different weight depend on the subject matter.
Sometimes the concept of the understanding and where memorizing are so mixed with each other that it is very difficult to say where memorization stops and understanding starts or vice versa.

For example recalling most of the Biological, Chemical or Physical structures and names and also the dates of some events are more depend on your memory than your understanding of the topics.
On the other hand you need more understanding of the topics to explain the Biological, Chemical and Physical functions or processes.

Here is a good example:
A-You need to know and memorize the human heart has 4 chambers and know the location of the arteries and veins. That comes from your memory.

B- When it comes to the biological functions of the heart, arteries and veins then you need more understanding than memorization.
How a heart pumps the blood, electrical impulses in the heart, distribution of the more and less oxygenated blood, how blood carries materials and etc. more depend on your understanding of the topics than your memorizations.

Let's look at another example:
A-Ketone is an organic molecule. You need to know the functional group, structure and the name.
When you see the name Ketone or a structure of the ketone in a question, if you can not picture the molecule or you don't recall what the functional group is or what it supposed to look like, you can not answer the questions related to the ketones.

B-Now let's look at this question:
Why nucleophiles can attack a ketone?

From your memory you could recall that:
i-The ketone and the carbonyl structure (carbon and oxygen)
ii-Oxygen is more electronegative than carbon
iii-Meaning of the electronegativity
iv-Nucleophiles could have a negative charge or loan pairs of electron

From you understanding you know that:
i-Electrons in the covalent bond attracted toward the oxygen more than the carbon
ii-Partial negative charge on the oxygen and partial positive charge on the carbon
iii-Nucleophiles can attack the carbon with the partial positive charge
iv-The effects of the EWG or ERG (EDG) on the adjacent carbon atoms and etc.

You can clearly see here that without the basic knowledge of the structure of ketone and carbonyl (from your memory) you can not get to the effect of the electronegativity differences between the carbon and oxygen and the reason behind nucleophiles attack at the carbon position.

I believe that for any given topic a little use of memorization about that topic comes first and then it follows by in depth understanding about that topic (you can call the sum of the two learning) but as I mentioned before sometimes these two mixed so much that we can not see a clear border between the two.
